Don’t Talk Shop If You’re Going To Talk Shit!

I went out with my friend Kelly, who is a school teacher for drinks on a Friday night around Liberty Village. We were having our girls night, we weren’t there to pick up guys or anything. It was just a new place to check out. Closer to 11:30pm these two guys walk up to us. One was a shorter Indian looking guy and the other was a fairly tall white guy. We started talking and the Indian guy kept talking to Kelly. Kelly introduced herself first and the white guy asked me, “what is her name? Pelly? How do you spell that?” and I said, “No! Kelly! K-E-L-L-Y”.  He introduced himself as Chris, and we will call his little Indian friend Josh. Things were going ok until we started talking about what we did. I told him I was an Executive Assistant at a financial institution. He said we both looked like the type of person who  works for a bank. I corrected him and told him Kelly was a teacher. He went onto telling me how his ex-gf is an executive assistant and worked for companies...

My First Second Date!!!

Although my blog is titled “Online Dating in the City”, it’s actually about my dating experiences overall. For the first time in my life I can say I went on a second date!!! I met him through my friend’s friend. We were at a Bachorlette party and a gay guy asked if we were Single? Married? Or in a relationship? Everyone there were either married or in a relationship, but I was the only single one. My friend’s friend offered to hook me up with her friend. My friend (the Bachlorette) was excited for my date and so was I. She would not tell me anything about him except that he was tall. We were talking through text messaging almost every day. He seemed like a cool guy. I was really nervous the day when I met him, because I didn’t know what he looked like and because he’s friends’ (Bachelorette) friend friend (it’s getting confusing), I wanted to make sure everything went well. He was running late of course (I don’t understand why people think it’s ok to be late?!), so I went to t...

Dates are like Interviews... pt.2

I don't know about you, but I have been on many many many job interviews. Recruiters really like my resume, but the companies I meet with don't seem to think I'm right for the position. On paper I seemed to be qualified, but apparently not in person. So, I went on a date few weeks ago.... His specs: Job: Teacher Ethnicity: Korean Lives: Toronto Memorable Quote: "I am extremely cheap" Height: 5'6 (I am 5'5, when we were standing on a small slant I was taller than him) Religion: Something that sounds cult-ish Guys!! If you are cheap, DO NOT announce it on your first date!! The word cheap has a negative connotation. Anyways, I thought the date went well, he had a great personality (although short). We knew a lot of the same people, dated a girl I know and even went on a date with my friend few years ago! The girl broke up with him because he was in a cult-ish religion.. He did try to justify it (but I agree with her) ... He also talked about sho...

Another Stand Up Guy!!

I am NOT having any luck with this online dating thing.. There was a guy who would message me "Good Morning Lovely ....." or "Good Night Beautiful ...." after corresponding with him for about 3 weeks we decided to finally meet. First I asked the guy when he was off work and he replied at 5pm. I told him I was going to be off at 4 because my bosses were away and then he replied asked if I wanted to meet at 4 or even at 2pm. He came on a little strong.. which worried me.. So the day of, I decided to get my nails done and meet him at 4:30pm at Tundra. I was excited because I have never been there and have heard good reviews. At 4:24pm I made my way to Tundra and messaged him. I even ruined my freshly manicured nails because my phone was way deep in my purse and I didn't want to miss his message or call. He messaged back saying he was on his way and would be there in 5 mins. Once I arrived I messaged him... No Answer I waited at Tundra, ordered a gla...

Can I Get My 3 Hours 45 Mins Back Please?

Time is a hot commodity. It is something we never have enough of and when wasted, we can never get it back. There was a guy that I've been talking to on Plenty of Fish. We exchanged numbers and started to chat through text messaging. He was a little aggressive, but I thought that was better than being passive. He asked me to meet him yesterday, it was a slow day at work so I said yes. But then I realized that I can leave work at 2pm, so I canceled and asked if we can reschedule it for next week. He then asked if we can meet on Saturday, but I told him I had plans; so he insisted we meet yesterday. In the meantime he told me he was having a slow day at work as well. We were originally going to meet at 5:30pm, but I had convinced him to meet earlier, so we agreed to meet at 5:15pm. At 5:06pm I messaged him I was on my way. At 5:08pm he messaged me he was going to be 10 mins late, then he told me he was going to be 20 mins late. At this point I had missed my 5:13pm train to go...

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

I recently went on a date to the Jays game. It was an exciting game, this game was going to determine whether the Jays were going to be first or second of their conference. We had seats right behind enemy lines. We were second row from the enemy dug out! Lets just say some baseball players are HOT!!!! So, now you're probably wondering why I'm going on about the baseball game.. It's because I have nothing to say about this date. This was probably one of the most boring date I have ever been on.. AND I have been on a date where the guy couldn't speak English! Specs: Occupation: Lawyer Height: 5'6 or 5'7 Decent Looking Pretty good on paper right? We chatted on text for a couple of days and then decided to meet. Even on text he didn't say much, but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. People are busy and can't text right away, or they are not a "texting" type. The way I ended this was gave him a quick hug, thanked him, and...
